GASSIM information.

 

GASSIM is a labor of love. I worked for a very large gas spring manufacturer that has it's own proprietary software for designing gas springs into applications. When I left them and went to work for a company just trying to get their fledgling gas spring business off the ground I was going to lose this valuable resource. I had looked at the software offerings that other companies were using and was not impressed. I felt the software I had been using was the best out there for designing gas springs into applications, but even it lacked some features that I wanted to see. I was not a computer programmer and did not feel like I could write a program that could do what I wanted to do, but I was able to develop a powerful spreadsheet that did everything I wanted it to. That is what I call GASSIM. With it I can model the behavior of any given gas spring in an application. It will predict tje handle loads, opening angles, and determine correct mounting points. Some of the extra features I have added included selecting min and max temperatures and modeling performance at those extremes, and being able to select your progression and friction values. I have not seen these features in any other software package out there. So GASSIM is powerful, but these applications are complex.  If you do not understand all the forces at play in an application you may get frustrated when trying to apply a gas spring to a particular application. No worries, that is what I am here for.
